Elle Wayne, Circus Artist | About Me

Elle began her movement arts education at age 7, dabbling in ballet and gymnastics. She invested decades in vocal performance and theatrical performance, especially musical theatre and opera.

Eventually, she felt the urge to stretch beyond the bounds of traditional disciplines. Notable appearances included an acrobatic, comedic portrayal of Felix the Cat in the psychedelic original play The Peppermint King and commedia dell’arte improvisational dance as the Court Jester for Masque of the Red Death, both at Gainesville’s Acrosstown Repertory Theatre.

Elle then refined her unique style of contemporary dance, which fused vocals and movement, at the weekly variety show led by noted performance artist Tom Miller. She began exploring the ancient arts of kung fu, cirque, and puppetry, and how they could intersect. Memorable performances included her weekly appearance of the enchantress Syrenka (vocal collage and contemporary dance) and comedy–rock puppet acts. Elle eventually performed the latter at puppet slams throughout Georgia and Florida.

In 2015, Elle discovered the world of aerial arts and began training at Gainesville Circus Center (GCC), focusing on lyra, trapeze, and silks. She also fell in love with the art of samba and performed throughout Gainesville with the Flores do Samba.

Her circus education at GCC included group acrobatics and partner balancing, aerial hoop duets, and multiple aerial apparatuses. She began coaching silks and static trapeze before relocating to Orlando, where she found her current circus family at Orlando Aerial Arts.

Elle also joined Corsets and Cuties, one of Orlando’s premier burlesque troupes, where she enjoyed the incredible opportunity to blend aerial dance with the art of the tease. Notable performances include lollipop lyra at Come Out with Pride and her Haunted Mansion dark fantasy act on aerial frame. Elle is a two-time graduate of Orlando’s Burlesque Conservatory and debuted her tarot-inspired aerial silks burlesque act in the 2024 ceremony.

In 2023, Elle joined Orlando Aerial Arts’ pre-professional company, Suspended Artistry. She performs regularly at the annual Central FL Kids & Family Expo and Celebration’s tree-lighting ceremony, Now Snowing.

Today, Elle is a consummate circus artist focused on lyra (aerial hoop and frame), silks, and dance (single-point) trapeze.

Notable acts include a comedic dance-trapeze act as Captain Jack Sparrow and “The Tale of Persephone,” a multidisciplinary production blending an aerial silks duet with stage combat and contemporary dance.
